Children's Ministries
The purpose of the children’s ministries at Calvary is to reach children with the Gospel of Christ and to partner with families to help lay spiritual foundations to last a lifetime.
Sunday School
Kindergarten through sixth graders are involved in Sunday School to help them learn how to love Jesus more and follow His plan for their lives. Teachers who have had background checks and who use provided curriculum and resources interact with the boys and girls, answer questions, and provide exciting opportunities in a safe, loving environment for kids to grow in their faith.
Children’s Worship
Children’s Worship is for kids in Kindergarten through fourth grade on Sundays at 11:05am. Worship time includes bible lessons, music, missions, skits, puppets, games and lots of other activities. The children also have opportunities to serve by sharing their talents as they sing special music, play offertories, or present skits and by participating in mission projects.
Awana
Calvary’s Awana club meets on Wednesdays, 6pm-8pm and is designed for children ages two years through sixth grade. Elements of Awana include 1) handbook time, where clubbers have the opportunity to recite the scripture verses they have been working on; 2) large group time, where clubbers are presented with a lesson from God’s word that is relative to their lives; 3) game time, where clubbers engage in fast-paced games that encourage participation and team work; 4) bi-monthly visits to the Awana store where they can purchase items with Awana shares. Awana shares are earned by clubbers for club attendance, Sunday school or church attendance, bringing their Bible and handbook, wearing their uniform, bringing a guest and completing sections in their handbook.
Vacation Bible School
Children will enjoy one of the best things about summer – VBS! This summer program provides interactive Bible stories, age-related activities, crafts, music, recreation, missions and lots of friends. Kids will have lots of fun while learning how to love and serve Jesus.
Church Camp
Boys and girls who are entering 4th – 7th grades have the opportunity to attend camp for a week at Baptist Hill in Mt. Vernon. Boys and girls who have completed Kindergarten – 2nd grade have the opportunity to attend Intro to Camping for a weekend at Baptist Hill in Mt. Vernon.
